Quidditch this year especially the spring season has been FANTASTIC! I mean anytime I’m on the pitch with Harry Clarke (my beater partner) it’s like magic. I’ve had some great beater moments like back to back double beats and many clutch beats. I bashing seekers with a shield and climbing a roof as a snitch, and getting a double pull (were both me and the other seeker pulled the snitch at the same time) while having a broken finger. But after all those shameless plugs, I’d have to say my favorite part of this season came when I wasn’t even allowed to play. It was at the UMD tournament were with only 8 players ( thank you John and Jeff from RIT for playing) and only 2 girls, we went in saying we would go down in a blaze of glory. But we just wouldn’t go down, we won all our pool play games, was seated 2nd overall after pool play (close to UMD who was 1st), won the quarterfinal game making it all the way to the semifinal game against Hofstra. Sadly, we lost against Hofstra 90-30 as we had Devin do a mercy pull to end the game. We then forfeited the game for 3rd place due to injury. But, to be honest I don’t think we lost at all. I had the great honor of being the captain for that tournament. Even at their lowest they NEVER said die, they never gave up. We were the only team that didn’t have at least 12-15 people (some had 21) that made it that far! They gave it EVERYTHING they had and left it ALL on the field! They played phenomenally, with SO much drive, passion, skill, and most of all heart! This picture shows the 8 glorious Quidd-kids that repped the Thestral jerseys doing our “We are the Thestrals” chant that echoed throughout the stadium. In my eyes they were the true winners and I couldn’t be more proud! They showed the Quidditch world that the Thestrals are a force to be reckoned with no matter how many or how tired they are! So maybe we did finally go down but hey it was one hell of a blaze of glory! That is why this moment is my favorite of this year, because there are no words for how insanely proud I am to call these guys my friends, my team, … MY FAMILY!
